In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a 39-year-old soldier who was on leave and opened fire in a residential high-rise building. The incident occurred in the Desnianskyi district. According to preliminary reports, the man fired shots at the soldiers, after which he was detained.
This was reported by the Kyiv police. According to law enforcement officials, the 39-year-old man opened fire during a visit by officers from the Military Law Enforcement Service.
It has been preliminarily established that representatives of the Military Law Enforcement Service came to the man’s home to conduct an inspection. At that moment, the soldier pulled out a “Flobert” revolver and fired two shots in their direction.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. After the shooting, additional law enforcement units and special forces were called to the scene.
Members of the KORD special unit were deployed to apprehend the man. Law enforcement officers conducted a special operation and detained the shooter inside the apartment.
During a search of the apartment, police found a substance resembling cannabis. Law enforcement also seized the pistol and other physical evidence.
Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. At the same time, law enforcement is verifying the origin of the seized weapons and narcotics.
The detainee has already been notified of suspicion under the article "hooliganism." The penalty under this article provides for up to seven years of imprisonment.
In addition, the man may face further investigation regarding the circumstances of his service in the Special Forces. The investigation is currently ongoing.
