Two foreigners died while swimming in the Dnipro River at Hydropark in Kyiv
Two foreign nationals died while swimming in the Dnipro River in the Hydropark area of the Ukrainian capital.
This was reported by the Kyiv police.
The incident occurred over the weekend in the Dnipro district of the capital. According to preliminary data, two men jumped into the water from a pier and were unable to swim to shore on their own.
Rescuers later recovered the bodies of the victims. It was determined that they were foreign nationals aged 20 and 25.
The police stated:
“The police received a report that while swimming in the Dnipro River, two men jumped off a pier and did not resurface. Subsequently, rescuers found the bodies of the two victims.”
In connection with the incident, investigators from the Dnipro Police Department opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with the additional designation “accident.”
A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, and law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy.
As a reminder, at least 39 Ukrainian citizens have died in the mountainous regions of Romania while attempting to illegally reach the territory of the European Union since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. To rescue those in distress due to difficult weather and terrain conditions, Romanian emergency services have responded to nearly 400 calls. In total, approximately 32,000 Ukrainian men have entered Romania illegally.
