The Lukyanivskyi Business Center, damaged by Russian strikes, is being partially dismantled

In Kyiv, there are plans to partially dismantle the LUWR business center (“Lukyanivskyi Business Center”), which sustained significant damage as a result of Russian strikes. The property owner is also preparing a submission to the international Register of Damages Caused by the Russian Federation’s Aggression Against Ukraine to document the losses and pursue future compensation claims.

This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

“We are currently considering the option of partially dismantling the structures on the far left side of the building, where several floors have sustained significant damage. After the partial dismantling, we will restore the columns and reinforce the structure,” LUWR owner Nazar Bench told the agency.

The development company is engaging a certified expert for a technical assessment of the damage; this expert has already conducted assessments following the previous five strikes and is very familiar with the building. Work will begin after the removal of missile debris and other hazardous elements.

The Lukyanivskyi Business Center, with a total area of 28,000 square meters, was launched before the full-scale war. As of early 2022, approximately 60% of the space had been leased, but operations at the business center were suspended following the shelling.

Last year, the company filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation to seek compensation for damage to the building and lost profits. The amount of damages continues to grow. Each calculation is based on expert assessments.

“For the first attack—the total amount of damages, including lost profits, is $8.73 million; we are awaiting the court’s decision. Regarding subsequent attacks, we are still awaiting an expert assessment from the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine; after that, we will also file a lawsuit,” Bench said.

The company does not expect assistance from the state or the city, but only on the possibility of enforcing the court decision abroad in those jurisdictions where this is theoretically possible.

He also added that the Lukyanivskyi Business Center is preparing to file a claim with the Register of Damages Caused by the Russian Federation’s Aggression Against Ukraine.

According to YouControl data, LLC “Lukyanivskyi Business Center” was founded in 2018, with a registered capital of 5 million UAH, and its founder is BCG Investment AG (Switzerland).
