Kyiv hosted its first military K9 race featuring dogs and set a Ukrainian record
The capital hosted its first-ever DRYLAND CANICROSS military K9 race, in which law enforcement dog handlers and their service dogs covered a distance of 1,000 meters. Thirty teams participated in the competition.
The winner was a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine, along with his dog Bars, who completed the course in 3 minutes and 56 seconds. This result was officially entered into the Ukrainian Book of Records as the fastest time for the 1,000-meter distance in a military K9 race.
Second and third places went to representatives of the National Guard of Ukraine with times of 4 minutes and 6 seconds and 4 minutes and 7 seconds, respectively.

According to the winner, his partner, Bars, is an assault dog who performs reconnaissance missions as part of a special forces unit. During combat operations, a video camera is mounted on the dog, allowing soldiers to remotely assess the situation inside buildings before an assault.

The event was organized by the All-Ukrainian Federation of Military Canine Sports. The competition was dedicated to the memory of military dog handlers who died in the war.
