An Armenian man wanted by Interpol for more than 20 years was detained in Kyiv
In the capital, law enforcement officers detained a 53-year-old Armenian citizen who had been on an international wanted list since 2005 at the request of the Armenian authorities.
The man was identified during an investigation into the illegal possession of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. In his home country, he is wanted on suspicion of murder, causing serious bodily harm, and document forgery.
According to the investigation, he used two Ukrainian passports with different last names while in Ukraine. One of the documents listed his place of birth as Simferopol, while the other was issued to a resident of Zakarpattia who had died back in 2012.
At the request of prosecutors, the court ordered the detainee to be held in custody pending his extradition to Armenia.
