In Kyiv, a woman fell out of a window while trying to escape a fire
A fire broke out in an apartment in a 14-story residential building in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district this evening. During the emergency, a woman fell from a window while trying to escape the fire. The victim was hospitalized and is alive.
According to the State Emergency Service, a report of a fire in an apartment in a 14-story building in the Teremky neighborhood was received at 7:24 p.m.
Rescue workers arrived at the scene at 7:35 p.m. and immediately began extinguishing the fire. They fought the flames from the street while simultaneously unlocking the door to the apartment.
The State Emergency Service noted that setting up the fire department’s articulating ladder was complicated by tightly parked cars in the courtyard and tall vegetation.
During the fire, a woman fell from the apartment window while trying to escape the flames.
According to local social media posts, she allegedly tried to remove a mosquito screen to escape the smoke-filled apartment but lost her grip and fell. However, there is currently no official confirmation of this information.
After the fall, the victim was promptly handed over to paramedics and hospitalized. The State Emergency Service confirmed that the woman survived and is under medical supervision.
The fire was fully extinguished at 8:15 p.m.
Law enforcement officials and experts are currently investigating the cause of the fire and all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police determined that she may have been forcibly held in the apartment, which could have led to her suicide. Law enforcement officials determined that the victim had been living for some time in the apartment of a 24-year-old man, along with him and four other acquaintances aged 14 to 24—three young men and a young woman.
