Kyiv to Change Rules for Gas Stations During Air Raid Alerts
Kyiv plans to introduce uniform requirements for gas stations’ operations during air raid alerts. City authorities will also inspect shelters and review traffic management at gas stations.
This was announced by Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
According to him, every gas station in the capital must establish a clear protocol for staff actions during an air raid alert. Separately, they will check the functionality of warning systems and ensure unobstructed access to shelters.
Not only gas station employees but also drivers on the premises must be able to take shelter in case of danger.
Another change will concern parking. The authorities want to eliminate the chaotic clustering of vehicles near fuel tanks and regulate traffic flow within gas station premises.
In particular, this is intended to ensure unobstructed passage for emergency, medical, and military vehicles so that special-purpose vehicles can quickly enter the gas station and refuel even during an emergency.
“We are implementing standardized requirements for every gas station. This is necessary to protect people and ensure the uninterrupted operation of emergency vehicles,” Tkachenko noted.
