A man was arrested in the Kyiv region for possession of an anti-tank grenade
In the Vyshhorod District of Kyiv Oblast, a domestic dispute within a family led to the unexpected discovery of a serious case involving illegal weapons. While responding to a domestic violence call, police officers discovered ammunition in the home and seized a firearm, the origin of which is currently being investigated. The man has been charged and faces up to seven years in prison.
The incident began with a domestic dispute when a woman contacted the police and reported that her husband, while intoxicated, was causing a disturbance and committing domestic violence. Law enforcement officers from the Vyshhorod District responded to the call and, while investigating the circumstances of the incident, uncovered findings far more serious than a mere domestic dispute.

While inspecting the property, police determined that the 54-year-old man was illegally storing a hand-held anti-tank grenade in his garage. This discovery prompted a more extensive search, as law enforcement officers decided to check whether there were any other dangerous items in the residence. During the search of the house, firearms were also discovered and seized; the legality of their origin is currently being determined. The man himself was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility.

After gathering initial evidence, investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Vyshhorod District Prosecutor’s Office, notified the suspect of his suspicion of illegally carrying, storing, and acquiring ammunition without the appropriate permit. The actions are classified under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for up to seven years of imprisonment.
Separately, an administrative report was filed against the man for domestic violence, which will be forwarded to court for consideration. The investigation is currently ongoing, and law enforcement officials are determining the origin of the seized weapons and all circumstances surrounding their storage. This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Police.
The State Property Fund of Ukraine is continuing a large-scale overhaul of the management teams at state-owned enterprises following an audit. Dozens of competitive selection processes have been announced and a number of appointments made in recent months.
The head of the State Property Fund stated that the actions of law enforcement and the charges brought by the prosecutor’s office could derail the sale of the Ocean Plaza shopping and entertainment center in Kyiv. The State Property Fund insists that the privatization process is proceeding in accordance with the law and is based on an independent appraisal.
The Court of Appeals upheld the appeal filed by the State Property Fund of Ukraine and overturned the ruling ordering a forensic examination in the bankruptcy case of JSC “Scientific and Research Medical Association ‘Dialir.’” This court decision allowed for the resumption of previously suspended proceedings and removed the legal obstacles that had been blocking further disposal of the company’s assets. This was reported on the official website of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.
The company’s main asset is a large-scale, unfinished complex of the former Republican Clinical Hospital, located on a municipal land plot covering more than twenty-one hectares in Kyiv. Since the state owns more than 95.5% of the company’s shares, the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU) called the court’s decision a strategic victory. The effort to reclaim the medical complex has been ongoing since 2021 in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office. Attempts were made to transfer the property at an undervalued price to settle fictitious debts without holding open tenders, which, according to preliminary estimates, caused the state budget to lose between 345 million and 745 million hryvnias. Currently, following joint searches conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) as part of the investigation into this scheme, the Fund plans to immediately adopt an official decision to launch a transparent privatization of the state’s stake in the enterprise.
