The Kyiv City State Administration is discussing the restoration of the Government House in the Kintsugi style

The Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration is discussing with Polish experts the possibility of restoring the Ukrainian Government House using the *kintsugi* principle—an approach that involves preserving traces of damage as part of history.

This was reported following a meeting of the advisory council.

The building in question is the Cabinet of Ministers, which sustained significant damage as a result of an enemy attack on September 7, 2025. The idea of restoring it in this style was proposed by People’s Deputy Anna Bondar.

The kintsugi approach does not involve hiding the damage, but rather interpreting it as part of historical memory and identity.

The Kyiv City State Administration notes that similar practices have already been applied around the world. In particular, after World War II, Warsaw was restored with maximum historical accuracy; in Germany, new materials were combined with preserved elements; and in the United Kingdom, the ruins of Coventry Cathedral were left as a symbol of remembrance.

“This approach demonstrates that modern restoration is not only about rebuilding architecture, but first and foremost about preserving memory, identity, and truth,” the department noted.

Russian troops struck residential buildings in the village of Zolochiv in the Bohodukhiv district of Kharkiv region. The attack damaged eight private homes and caused a fire in a garage

As a result of another shelling by Russian forces in Mykolaivka, Donetsk Oblast, significant damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded, including a fire and rescue station.
