Easter and Memorial Days in the Kyiv region will be marked by heightened security measures

This year, Easter celebrations and memorial services in the Kyiv region will take place under heightened security measures. Due to the risk of enemy shelling, residents of the region are urged to avoid large gatherings.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Regional State Administration (KRSA).

According to the Gregorian calendar, Easter is celebrated on April 5, and according to the New Julian calendar, on April 12. Memorial days will begin just one week later. The city authorities emphasize that despite the holidays, the curfew in the Kyiv region will remain in effect as usual—from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Moving about on the streets during this time is prohibited, so one can only participate in nighttime services online.

On the holiday night (April 11 and 12), during curfew, only clergy members—no more than 10 people—may be inside churches. Authorities advise against holding mass events such as fairs, concerts, and charity performances. To avoid crowds during the blessing of Easter baskets, religious communities are advised to draw up clear schedules in advance and make them public.

Residents are reminded: during an air raid alert, they must immediately seek shelter. Churches must be marked with signs indicating the route to the nearest safe location. Responsibility for people’s safety during the holidays rests directly with the event organizers.

Unstable weather with sharp temperature changes is forecast in Ukraine on the eve of Easter.

Easter is a movable feast, the date of which changes every year. In 2026, it may be celebrated on either April 5 or April 12, which causes confusion.
