Video: Director of a Kyiv-based company to face trial for massive air pollution

The Podil District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv has filed an indictment with the court against the head of a private company that specializes in metal processing and waste management.

The official is accused of systematically exceeding emission standards for hazardous substances, which led to serious air pollution in several districts of the capital.

For a long time, residents of the residential neighborhoods of Syrets, Kurenivka, Nyvky, Zamkovyshche, Pochayna, Obolon, and Lukyanivka have complained about systematic air pollution in their neighborhoods.

In response to these complaints, specialists from the State Environmental Inspection of the Capital District conducted a series of inspections that lasted two months.

An analysis of the company’s emissions revealed shocking results: carbon monoxide concentrations exceeded established standards by nearly 11 times, while sulfur dioxide emissions exceeded them by nearly 20 times.

According to the experts’ findings, the company’s operations posed a real threat to human life and health and caused significant damage to the environment.

An engineering and environmental assessment confirmed that damage to the environment amounted to 2.7 million hryvnias.

In April 2026, the company’s director was officially notified that he was suspected of committing a criminal offense.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
