Zelenskyy dismissed Timur Tkachenko from his position as head of the Kyiv City Military Administration
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Timur Tkachenko from his position as head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. The corresponding decree was published on the website of the Office of the President, according to “Ukrainska Pravda.”
The decree states: “In accordance with Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Legal Regime of Martial Law,’ Timur Firuddinovich Tkachenko is hereby dismissed from his position as head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.”
In May, local media outlets in Kyiv reported that Tkachenko had submitted his resignation. At the time, he responded to these reports by suggesting that the stories might have been orchestrated by “certain aggressive political factions.”
In April 2025, the Kyiv City Council adopted a resolution amending a number of its previous decisions, which, according to Tkachenko, limited his powers. He subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking an expansion of his powers against Kyiv City State Administration Head Vitali Klitschko. In October 2025, Tkachenko also stated that due to Klitschko’s absence, he was unable to hold a meeting of the Defense Council.
