Ukrainian blogger and contestant on the show “Supermom,” Anastasia Arbuzova, visited the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv and showed what the grave of legendary choreographer Grigory Chapkis looks like today.
In the video, Anastasia Arbuzova showed the final resting place of the famous dancer and longtime judge on the show “Dancing with the Stars.”
“Grigory Nikolayevich Chapkis. He died at the age of 21… How time flies,” said the blogger.
The footage shows a wreath lying on the choreographer’s grave.
Grigory Chapkis died in June 2021 at the age of 91. Before his death, he was hospitalized several times, notably due to bilateral pneumonia and, later, severe back pain.
The choreographer was buried at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv, where many prominent Ukrainians are laid to rest.
A monument was erected at his grave only three years after his death. The memorial is designed as a staircase leading to a dance floor, and it bears the symbolic inscription:
“Dance is life; live by dancing.”
In 2024, the choreographer’s son, Greg Chapkis, explained that the installation of the memorial was delayed due to the full-scale war in Ukraine, the distance, and the complexity of organizing the work from abroad.
“I’m sorry, Dad, it took so long. It was hard to do this from the other side of the world in a country torn apart by war. Some of your ‘friends’ and colleagues made a lot of empty promises and just wanted to get as much as they could from us. Now my heart is at peace,” wrote Greg Chapkis.

She posted the corresponding video on her Instagram.
As a reminder, on the night of July 21, Oleksandr Garbarchuk, the lead dancer of the “Life” Dance Theater and Honored Artist of Ukraine, passed away. He had been battling cancer for a long time.
