Ha Young will not appear in the next season of ‘The Trauma Code’

Actress Ha Young will not appear in the next season of Netflix’s “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.” As The Korea Herald reports, the streaming service announced this following a public controversy over allegations of her great-grandfather’s possible pro-Japanese activities during Japan’s colonial rule in Korea from 1910 to 1945.

Netflix’s decision

Netflix said that Ha Young would not take part in the next season, respecting the actress’s position. Her real name is Ahn Ha-young.

In the first season of the medical drama, she played nurse Cheon Chang-mi. The actress was also set to appear in the second season alongside Ju Ji-hoon and Choo Young-woo.

Family controversy

Last month, Ahn apologized over the situation. According to her, she knew only partially about her great-grandfather’s life and is ashamed that she spoke of him as a source of family pride.

While appearing on the KBS talk show “Problem Child in House,” the actress mentioned that her great-grandfather studied Western medicine in Japan. She said this while explaining that her family has been involved in medical practice for four generations.

These remarks were made a few days before Korea’s Liberation Day and drew public attention to her great-grandfather’s activities during the colonial period. Additional criticism was prompted by the fact that the actress’s agency initially called the allegations unfounded.
