Kim Hae-soo talked about her role as an influencer in the new series
South Korean actress Kim Hye-soo starred in the eight-episode series *The Affair Was Just the Beginning*. She portrayed Kyung-hee, a digital influencer who rose from poverty, built an empire in the world of social media influence, and became the primary breadwinner for her family. The heroine’s life begins to unravel after she becomes entangled in a dark chain of events triggered by suspicions of her husband’s infidelity.
In an interview with the Korea Herald on August 13, the actress said that the world of digital influencers felt familiar to her. According to her, both famous actors and digital content creators depend on the public’s attention and affection. Kim Hye-soo, who made her debut in 1986, noted that over the course of her career, she has grown accustomed to comparisons between her past and present, her acting, and her appearance.
To shape the public image of Kyung-hee, the actress studied digital creators who have turned their own lives into profitable online projects. She paid attention to examples of people who openly shared content, personal information, and their private lives with their audience, thereby gaining public support.

Kim Hye-soo cited the series’ title as one of the factors that drew her to the script. The Korean title of the project literally translates to “Cheating Now Is No Problem.” According to the actress, the story—which begins with a suspicion of infidelity—actually explores how the characters behave differently in extreme circumstances.
This project also marked a rare foray into the black comedy genre for Kim Hye-soo. She noted that while working on it, she had to analyze the script particularly carefully, weigh her options, and fine-tune the tone. The actress also said that she tries to objectively assess her own vulnerabilities and understand what she still needs to work on.
In addition, Kim Hae-soo commented on the uncertainty surrounding the second season of the crime thriller “Signal.” The sequel, which was initially expected to air as part of tvN’s summer 2026 lineup, has been postponed, and the network is currently reviewing the release schedule and format. The actress said she is focusing on script selection, preparation, and work on set, while further decisions are beyond her control.
