China to foster a child-friendly society over the next five years
According to a report presented at the 4th session of the 14th National People's Congress, which opened on March 5, China plans to encourage a "positive attitude towards marriage and childbirth" and enhance housing support for families with children.
The government will also improve services for women in early pregnancy and reproductive health, with a focus on more effective prevention and treatment of congenital diseases. Additionally, policies on free preschool education will be refined, and the number of educational institutions for children in rural and remote areas will be increased. State spending on education is expected to exceed 4% of GDP.
These measures aim to support demographic stability and improve the quality of life for families, which could positively influence China's social and economic development going forward.
