Hayley Williams pays tribute to Chad Gilbert — Rolling Stone
Musician Hayley Williams posted a message on Instagram Stories following the death of Chad Gilbert, co-founder and guitarist of New Found Glory.

According to Rolling Stone, Gilbert died of brain cancer on Sunday at the age of 45. Williams noted that at first she did not know whether it would be appropriate for her to speak out.
She called Gilbert a legend of the music scene and said that her connection with him taught her a great deal. According to her, he introduced her to people who still have a positive impact on her life, as well as to music and culture that made her experience richer.

Williams noted Gilbert’s contribution to the music world, his influence on the development of the genre, and his desire to support the music community. She said she would always be grateful to him for a deeper understanding of and respect for the hardcore community and culture.
The musicians’ relationship
Williams and Gilbert were in a relationship from 2007 to 2017. They married in February 2016 and announced their separation in July 2017.
In a joint statement at the time, the couple said that they had grown up together and had been there for one another in good times and during trials. In her current message, Williams expressed condolences to Gilbert’s family, the New Found Glory community, and his friends.
