Olena Mozgova shared some poignant memories of her father
July 30 marks the 16th anniversary of the death of Mykola Mozgovoy, People’s Artist of Ukraine. On the anniversary of his death, the composer’s daughter, producer Olena Mozgova, published an emotional post in which she admitted that the pain of her loss still lingers.
Wednesday, July 30, marked the 16th anniversary of the death of Ukrainian composer, singer, and People’s Artist of Ukraine Mykola Mozgovyi. On the day commemorating her father, his daughter, producer Olena Mozgova, shared poignant memories on social media. She admitted that that day will forever remain the most painful in her life.
According to Olena Mozgova, her father died in her arms, and she still cannot come to terms with this loss. “Sixteen years have passed... It was the most terrifying morning of my life... He died in my arms... and there was nothing I could do. It still hurts. Sometimes more, and sometimes it eases a little. I love him and miss him so much,” she wrote.
The producer attached an archival video of Mykola Mozgovoy’s performance to the post. In the recording, the artist performs his famous song “The Day Passes, the Night Passes.” Before ending his performance, he recites lines that his fans remember well: “The trouble isn’t that you don’t love me; the trouble is that I can’t stop loving you.”
After these words, the audience gives the singer a standing ovation. Mykola Mozgovyi was born on September 1, 1947, in the Khmelnytskyi region. Over the course of his career, he has written dozens of songs that have become part of the golden repertoire of Ukrainian pop music. One of his most famous works is the song “Ridny Kray” (“Native Land”), which was performed by Sofia Rotaru in 1979. Mozgovyi also wrote the songs “The Day Is Passing,” “My First Love,” “The Mountain Girl,” “For the First Time,” “Enchanted Words,” “Two Swings,” and many others.
The composer died on July 30, 2010. A few weeks later, on September 1, he would have turned 63. Mykola Mozgovyi was buried at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv. His work remains an important part of Ukrainian musical culture to this day, and his songs continue to be played and reach new listeners.
