Pete and Linda are preparing one of the most unusual acts for Eurovision 2026

Pete and Linda are preparing one of the most unusual acts for Eurovision 2026

Finland will be represented at Eurovision 2026 by an unusual duo—pop singer Pete Parkkonen and world-renowned violinist Linda Lampenius. The artists come from completely different musical backgrounds but have joined forces for this major performance at the contest. Today, the duo will perform in the second Eurovision semifinal as the seventh act, according to the official Eurovision website

Pete Parkkonen has long been known in Finland as one of the country’s strongest pop and soul performers. He gained widespread popularity after appearing on the show Idols. Since then, the singer has released several successful albums, toured extensively, and become a regular at major music festivals. Fans love Pete for his emotional live performances and powerful vocals. In Finland, he is often described as an artist who “commands the stage with his charisma.”

Linda Lampenius is a completely different story. She is one of the most famous Finnish violinists in the world. Linda began studying music as a child, and by her teenage years she was already touring Europe, North America, and Asia. Her classical album became a real hit in its day, and Lampenius herself became one of Finland’s most famous musicians.

Linda Lampenius is known not only for her music but also for the scandals surrounding her image. At one point, she literally split the public right down the middle. Part of the classical music world criticized her for her overly “glamorous” style. There was a lot of talk, especially after photo shoots for men’s magazines, including Playboy. For the academic scene, this seemed very unusual.

Because of this, Linda was even called “Finland’s most scandalous violinist.” Some critics believed she focused more on her image than on her music. The artist herself has responded to such accusations on more than one occasion. “I’ve never been ashamed to be feminine and vibrant. That doesn’t make me a worse musician,” Lampenius said. Despite the criticism, she managed to build an international career and remain popular for many years.

Pete Parkkonen’s story is less scandalous, but no less complicated. After his explosive popularity on Idols, the singer went through a difficult period when his career slowed down a bit. The Finnish media wrote about his burnout from show business and creative crises. Pete himself admitted that there was a moment when he seriously considered taking a break from music. But the singer returned to the stage and gradually regained his popularity. In recent years, he has often been called one of Finland’s most consistent live performers.

What surprised Eurovision fans the most was the combination of artists. On one hand—pop and soul; on the other—classical violin and the academic school. After the first rehearsals, social media began buzzing that Finland could be one of the season’s biggest surprises. Linda Lampenius’s live violin performance received particular attention.

Incidentally, a minor controversy arose specifically around her performance. The organizers allowed Linda to perform the violin part live, even though they had previously denied similar requests from other participants. Because of this, fan communities even began discussing Eurovision’s “double standards.”

However, the artists themselves are trying not to get involved in conflicts and are talking only about the music. “We want to put on a performance that people will remember for a long time,” Pete said before the semifinal.

Today, Pete Parkkonen and Linda Lampenius will perform in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2026 as the seventh act. A total of 15 contestants will take the stage this evening to compete for a spot in the contest’s final.

The organizers of Eurovision 2026 explained the contest’s voting rules.

Eurovision organizers issued a warning to Israel for violating the voting rules.

Moldovan artist Satoshi will be the first to take the stage in today’s Eurovision semifinal. In just a few years, he has gone from a young man from a small town to one of Moldova’s most prominent young musicians, and his name has been the subject of heated discussions on more than one occasion.

Swedish singer FELICIA will be the second to take the stage in today’s Eurovision semifinal. The artist has long been known in Sweden, but previously performed under a different stage name—Fröken Snusk—which has sparked controversy and heated debate on more than one occasion.

The Croatian band LELEK will perform in the Eurovision semi-final today with their song “Andromeda.” The group has become a real sensation in Croatia thanks to their blend of folk motifs, electronic music, and modern pop sounds.

Greek singer Akylas has become one of the youngest and most talked-about participants in Eurovision 2026. The artist rose to fame thanks to TikTok and is now representing Greece on Europe’s premier music stage. Today he will perform in the contest’s semifinals as the fourth act.

The Portuguese band Bandidos do Cante has become one of the most striking discoveries of Eurovision 2026. The group combined traditional singing with modern pop music and quickly became popular in Portugal. Today, the band will perform in the second semifinal of the contest as the fifth act.

The Georgian group Bzikebi, which once won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, has returned to the contest stage. The group, which many remember for their “bee” costumes and song in a made-up language, is now representing Georgia in the adult Eurovision Song Contest.
