Scooby-Doo is moving to Japan: the iconic franchise is getting an anime series

The "Scooby-Doo" franchise is set to expand with a new anime series titled "Yokoso Scooby-Doo," which will be set in Japan. The project will be an exclusive for the Tubi streaming platform.

Actors familiar to fans of the franchise will return to voice the main characters. Frank Welker will once again lend his voice to Scooby-Doo, and Matthew Lillard will voice Shaggy.

In the story, Scooby and Shaggy head to Japan on a culinary adventure but accidentally set free hundreds of mythical creatures. To stop the chaos, the heroes will have to team up with Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Do, as well as new characters—a girl named Yume and an inventor named Takumi.

Tubi noted that the new series will combine the classic atmosphere of "Scooby-Doo" with elements of Japanese anime, which will help attract a new audience.

Warner Bros. Animation is handling production, and OLM Studio is the Japanese partner on the project. Itsuro Kawasaki will direct the anime.

Frank Welker has been working on the franchise since 1969: he initially voiced Fred Jones, and since 2002 has been the voice of Scooby-Doo himself. Matthew Lillard first played Shaggy in the 2002 film "Scooby-Doo" and has since regularly returned to the character in film and animated projects.

Earlier, Ivo Bobul publicly defended Taisiya Povaliy and Ani Lorak, who had moved to Russia and subsequently supported his position. The singer believes that conditions were created for them in Ukraine under which they could not continue their careers.

After People’s Artist of Ukraine Ivo Bobul justified his fellow countrywoman Ani Lorak’s move to Russia by claiming that she was allegedly prevented from working in Ukraine, the singer herself—who is accused in Ukraine of betraying her homeland—also echoed this version of events.
