Album themes
Rubio, who is of Mexican-Salvadoran descent, combines the alternative sound of Los Angeles with her Latin American heritage. According to her, late night swim is dedicated to going through a breakup, heartbreak, and self-discovery through loss. The performer sought to create a feeling of escape from reality and nostalgia, as well as a space for releasing hidden emotions.
Rubio once again worked on the album with her longtime collaborator Lester Mendez. Wyatt Bernard, Austin Corona, Rodiah, Zacari, Olivia Bond, and Lennon Kloser also contributed to the work. In addition to Los Angeles influences, the record will explore the sounds of London and Jamaica.
