People's Artist of Ukraine Stepan Giga was posthumously awarded the "Face of Independence 2026" honor. The artist's family announced the award.
The singer’s loved ones noted that this award has become a special symbol of recognition of his creative journey and contribution to Ukrainian culture.
“This is not just an award. It is recognition of his life’s journey, his talent, and his love for his homeland and its people,” the family’s statement reads.
His relatives emphasized that Stepan Giga’s songs have become part of Ukraine’s cultural heritage and have left a mark on the hearts of millions of listeners.
According to them, the award holds special significance for the entire family as a cherished memory of the artist who dedicated his life to the stage and his art.
Stepan Giga passed away on December 12, 2025.
