Luke Skywalker's lightsaber has been put up for auction

Luke Skywalker’s famous lightsaber, along with a replica of his severed hand from the “Star Wars” film saga, will be offered at a public auction for the first time in history. This unique artifact is estimated to be worth a seven-figure sum, and the starting price for the iconic weapon will begin at $1 million.

Organizers from Heritage Auctions note that the prop was used by actor Mark Hamill during the filming of the final duel in the 1980 film *The Empire Strikes Back*.

In addition to the lightsaber, other famous pop culture rarities will be featured at the event, titled the Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction, which will take place from July 13 to 17. These will include the hats worn by Willy Wonka and the Wicked Witch of the West, the hoverboards from the sci-fi drama *Back to the Future Part II*, authentic rugs from the comedy *The Big Lebowski*, as well as the main character’s sneakers from the film *Rocky III*. The musical portion of the collection will be headlined by a unique Valentine’s Day card featuring John Lennon’s handwritten lyrics, created during The Beatles’ historic debut on American television.

This was reported by the Associated Press.

As a reminder, a handwritten letter from actress Jennifer Aniston to the late Matthew Perry will be put up for auction along with other personal items belonging to the “Friends” star.

In France, a fragment of the Eiffel Tower’s original staircase was sold at auction for 450,000 euros. It is part of the historic structure that once connected the floors of the legendary “Iron Lady.” The lot had been in a private collection for over 40 years and caused a real stir among collectors.
