The Trypillian culture has been added to the UNESCO Tentative List

The transnational archaeological complex "Precucuten-Ariushd-Cucuten-Trypillia" has been officially included on UNESCO's Tentative List.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

This decision is the result of joint efforts by Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova to preserve their shared cultural heritage from the Eneolithic era.

This large-scale cultural complex comprises 15 archaeological sites located in eight regions of Ukraine.

In addition to Ukrainian sites, the nomination covers 36 locations in Romania and 20 in the Republic of Moldova.

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine emphasized that this step is only the beginning of a long process of international recognition.

Experts now face the task of preparing a complete nomination dossier for the final inclusion of the sites on the World Heritage List.

The included sites demonstrate an exceptionally high level of development of the settlements of that time and their complex layout.

The material culture of the Trypillians reflects the unique achievements of an ancient civilization that existed on the territory of modern Ukraine thousands of years ago.

Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy Tetiana Berezhna emphasized the strategic importance of this achievement for the state.

According to her, the Trypillian culture is one of the most striking examples of the development of ancient civilizations in Europe.

“The Trypillian culture is an important part of European cultural heritage and one of the most striking examples of the development of ancient civilizations on the territory of modern Ukraine,” noted Tetiana Berezhna.

Artist Ivan Marchuk explained where the Russians got his paintings

As a reminder, artist Ivan Marchuk saved his father from the NKVD during World War II. The Ivan Marchuk Museum still lacks independent funding.

It is also known that a court seized Marchuk’s paintings, which had been confiscated from the son of a former MP in a fraud case.
