Onuka received the Emmy Award, which she had won back in 2024
Ukrainian singer Onuka, whose real name is Nata Zhizhchenko, has finally received her Emmy Award statuette. She won the award back in 2024 as a producer of the documentary project “Culture Quest” in the Outstanding Daytime Special category.
The film, directed by Yan Grant, is about Ukraine. Zhizhchenko co-authored the project and was responsible, in particular, for the episode about Chernihiv.
Footage for the episode was shot in September 2022. The singer showed the filmmakers volunteer initiatives, spoke about the resistance of local residents, and introduced them to representatives of organizations working in the city.
According to Onuka, the film successfully captured the atmosphere of that period—the anticipation of a counteroffensive, the spirit of the Ukrainian people, and the scale of the volunteer movement.
The singer decided to keep the statuette in her grandfather’s workshop. That is where one of the episodes of the documentary project was filmed.
“If someone had told me that an episode filmed in this workshop would win an Emmy, and that the Emmy would come there to document this moment, I wouldn’t have believed it,” the artist said.
