An 11-meter-tall Trojan horse was installed in London ahead of the premiere of *The Odyssey*

The world premiere of Christopher Nolan’s film “Odyssey” in London surprised attendees not only with its star-studded guest list but also with its unusual set design. A giant Trojan horse, about 11 meters tall, was installed next to the red carpet. The structure was created specifically for the film’s promotional campaign. It is an exact replica of the horse that appears in the movie itself.

The world premiere of Christopher Nolan’s new film, *Odyssey*, which took place last week in London, was memorable not only for the appearance of Hollywood stars. What caught the guests’ attention most was the enormous Trojan horse installed near the venue. Director Christopher Nolan attended the premiere, along with the lead actors—Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and other cast members. However, as Variety notes, it was the giant set piece that became the main symbol of the evening.

The horse was placed near the blue carpet, which was decorated in a nautical style. The organizers even covered the area with real sand to create the atmosphere of the ancient world. According to Universal Pictures, the structure is about 11 meters tall and weighs more than four metric tons. Due to its size, the wooden giant was visible even from neighboring streets.

What makes this installation unique is that it’s not just a decorative model. The horse was built using the same blueprints that were used during the filming of *The Odyssey*. In fact, it is an exact replica of the prop that appears in the film. Thirty-four specialists worked on creating the structure. In total, they spent 288 hours on its construction.

They used expanded polystyrene, steel frames, resin, tin foil, and fiberglass. This made the set both sturdy and relatively lightweight for its size. Delivering the horse to the premiere venue proved to be just as challenging. It was transported in four separate parts, along with its base, on three trucks.

It took six workers nine hours to assemble the structure. It took nearly as long to dismantle the installation after the event concluded. In total, 45 people worked on the design, production, transportation, and assembly. However, the story of the Trojan horse does not end there.

Before *The Odyssey* hits theaters on July 17, it will be on display again for London residents and visitors. The structure will be installed in Trafalgar Square on July 14, and from July 16 to 19, it will be on display near the Westfield London shopping center. Similar promotional events are taking place in other countries as well.

There are currently two Trojan horses in the U.S. associated with the film. One of them is the original structure from the film set, which can be seen near the AMC Universal Cinema at Universal Studios CityWalk.

The second horse has already visited several American cities. After appearances in Venice, Texas, and Miami, it will be featured at the U.S. premiere of *The Odyssey*, which will take place on July 15 in New York City at the AMC Lincoln Square 13. Variety reports this.
