An exhibition of sculptures made from the wreckage of military equipment has opened in Lviv
An exhibition of sculptures titled “Transformation of Life” has opened at the Lviv Officers’ Club. The sculptures were created from the wreckage of military equipment, shell casings, and other metal fragments brought from combat zones.
The artist is Serhiy Vlasenko, a serviceman with the 158th Separate Mechanized Brigade. In his sculptures, he uses parts of military equipment and debris left behind after combat operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions, specifically from Zaporizhzhia, Huliaipole, and Pokrovsk.
In the artist’s hands, metal—instead of weapons and their parts—is transformed into birds, animals, insects, and fantastical creatures.
According to Vlasenko, he strives to create new forms from materials that have already lost their original purpose.
The exhibition will run through August 24 at the Lviv Officers’ House, located at 22 Teatralna Street.
