Taylor Swift to receive Artist Director Honors at MTV VMA — Rolling Stone
On September 27 in Los Angeles, Taylor Swift will receive the first-ever MTV VMA Artist Director Honors award. It will be presented during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, which will take place at the Peacock Theater.
An award for directorial vision
As Rolling Stone reports, the new award was established for artists with a long-standing and influential body of work who have expanded creative boundaries and developed a distinctive directorial style.
Swift has been nominated eight times in the Best Direction category. She has won four Moon Person awards in this category — for “The Man,” the short film “All Too Well,” “Anti-Hero,” and “Fortnight.” This is a record for the number of Best Direction wins: David Fincher has three such awards.
