Nigeria to screen Agbara Nla remake — Premium Times Nigeria
On October 1, cinemas in Nigeria will screen “Agbara Nla: The Return,” a new version of Mount Zion Faith Ministries’ Christian film “Agbara Nla,” which was first released in 1993. Mike Bamiloye will reprise the role of Isawuru, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
An English-language adaptation of the original film, titled “The Ultimate Power,” was released in 1994. The new film will retain the source story and main characters, while the narrative has been adapted to modern realities.
The idea for the remake
According to filmmaker Damilola Bamiloye, he and his brother Joshua first suggested that their father return to his older stories, including “Agbara Nla,” about four years ago. At the time, Mike Bamiloye believed the time had not yet come.

Last year, Damilola Bamiloye discussed the idea with a producer named Chris, who supported relaunching the project. After consultations with friends and another conversation with his father, the creators received his blessing to continue the work. According to Bamiloye, the film was shot in approximately 20–21 days.
Returning to the role of Isawuru
Damilola Bamiloye said that the remake retells the story from beginning to end, but takes into account the interests and realities of today’s audience. According to him, the film, like the original, retains biblical principles and the theme of spiritual warfare.
He called Mike Bamiloye’s return to the role of Isawuru a personally important moment. When the first film was released in 1993, Damilola was four years old. He recalled reenacting scenes from the film with his brothers and sisters after watching it. According to him, in the original film his father used makeup to play a character aged 50–60, while now, at the age of 60, he was able to play Isawuru without such a transformation.
