Beijing Photography Week opens with works by Hungarian photographers
Beijing Photography Week 2026, also known as Photo Beijing 2026, opened on September 5 at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing, China. The event is held under the theme “The Image, Resonance, Insight” and will run until September 13.
Hungarian works
The week’s program includes exhibitions on the spirit of the era, international exchange and academic dialogue, cultural heritage, artistic practice, and the industry ecosystem. One of the main international exhibitions is “A View of the History of World Photography — Masterpieces from the Hungarian Museum of Photography.”
It features works by 12 Hungarian photographers who influenced the development of 20th-century photography, including André Kertész. Most of these works are being shown in China for the first time, ECNS reports.

Photography and technology
Yang Yuanxing, founder and chair of the organizing committee, explained that “resonance” means the ability of images to connect personal experience with public emotions. According to him, “insight” involves a clear examination of visual transformations in the age of artificial intelligence.
Yang noted that in the new technological environment, photography must preserve authenticity, depth, and warmth while seeking new ways to present Chinese visual works internationally. The week also includes the “Cloud Image” mobile photography exhibition and the 2026 Silk Road Youth Photography Exhibition.
Zhao Yingxing, the event’s artistic director, stated that powerful images come from genuine scenes and the long-term accumulation of experience. According to her, Beijing Photography Week will continue to document its time and engage in dialogue with the world.
