Video: Russian propagandists promoted a Frank Theater production about the Ukrainian Odyssey
On September 8, a Russian propaganda channel aired a promo for the Frank Theater’s new production, “Odyssey ~ Meotida.” Russian propaganda representatives commented on the production and expressed surprise at the appearance of drones on stage.
Russian journalist Olga Skabeeva spoke about the play “Odyssey ~ Meotida” on the air of the main propaganda channel, “Russia 1.” Thus, according to the Russians, thanks to the play, the “pseudo-elite of the Kyiv regime” is creating “new national myths.” “The war has taken on a new dimension in Kyiv, where Homer’s epic poem has been reinterpreted as a modern Ukrainian Odyssey,” the Russian report states.
Skabeeva also noted that the play was created in collaboration with the Azov Brigade. Separately, the Russians featured the actors playing the lead roles in the play and translated their comments into Russian—namely, Danila Mireshkin and Daria Legeida.
At the same time, the Russians were surprised by the use of drones on the stage of the Ukrainian theater. “The monsters from the original poem—the Cyclops and the siren—have been replaced by drones buzzing above the stage and models of robotic combat vehicles. An additional reference to Ancient Greece appears in the play’s title, ‘Meotida,’ which is the ancient Greek name for the Sea of Azov,” the video states.
Earlier, the Kyiv resident attended Ukrainian Fashion Week in a dress made from drone parts.
As a reminder, the WorldSkills Museum in Shanghai is exhibiting a white porcelain sculpture titled “Myth,” created by master ceramist Lian Deli, as part of the “CHINA White” exhibition. The work depicts Princess Yushu—a character from Jackie Chan’s 2005 fantasy film “Myth.”
