The Ukrainian Gremi Borsch Fest in Warsaw has been canceled
The Ukrainian Gremi Borsch Fest in Warsaw will not take place due to the lack of a venue for the event. The organizers stated that they had been searching for a suitable location for over six months but were turned down by every venue they approached.
The festival has been held in Poland since 2022. During that time, 32 festivals have taken place in 14 cities.
This year, the organizers planned to focus solely on Kraków and Warsaw, reducing the number of events.
The organizers announced the cancellation of the festival in Warsaw on their Instagram page.
According to representatives of Gremi Borsch Fest, the search for a venue lasted more than six months. The organizers reached out to both private and municipal venues.
“For over six months, we persistently searched for a venue to host the festival, reached out to various venues, held negotiations, and tried to find a viable format. We even found the right venue. But then we received an unexpected refusal. All other venues in Warsaw that we approached—both private and municipal—also turned us down,” the statement reads.
The festival was supposed to take place under the patronage of the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland, but this did not help the organizers resolve the issue of the venue.
Representatives of Gremi Borsch Fest noted that they do not know the reason for the widespread refusals.
At the same time, the organizers urged people not to jump to conclusions.
“We do not want to look for hidden reasons, jump to conclusions, or blame anyone. We sincerely hope that this situation is not related to the growing tension surrounding Ukrainians in Poland. We would very much like to believe that this is a coincidence,” they added in the post.
Despite the cancellation of the festival in Warsaw, the Gremi Foundation will not cease its activities.
The organizers emphasized that the foundation will continue to carry out charitable projects in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“We are not stopping, we are not abandoning our mission, and we are already preparing new initiatives that we will announce very soon,” festival representatives said.
