Chinese graduates in Australia hold gala evening for two holidays
On September 6 in Sydney, Australia, the Chinese Alliance of University Alumni Associations in Australia held a cultural gala evening to mark the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s National Day. Nearly 400 alumni from more than 50 leading Chinese universities, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, and Sun Yat-sen University, took part in the event, ECNS reports.

In his opening remarks, alliance president Zhu Baisen described the gala evening as a cross-border cultural gathering that strengthens ties among Chinese alumni abroad. He thanked the Consulate General of China in Sydney, alumni associations, organizers, and volunteers for supporting the event.

Lin Xiaoqing, education consul-counselor at the Consulate General of China in Sydney, noted the alliance’s work in creating platforms for alumni communication, resource sharing, and cultural promotion. According to her, this work has contributed to people-to-people contacts and friendly cooperation between China and Australia.
Cultural program
The gala program included song and dance performances dedicated to the two holidays. In particular, the classic compositions “The Lights of China” and “Hometown of the Moon” were performed, along with guzheng solos and classical Chinese dances. The event concluded with a joint performance of “One World, One Family.”
