Writer and publisher Vasos Ftochopoulos dies in Cyprus

Writer, director and publisher Vasos Ftochopoulos has died in Cyprus at the age of 76. He was associated with Aegeon publications and also owned the Aegeon tavern in Nicosia, which was considered a meeting place for artists and intellectuals.

A life between Cyprus, London and Thessaloniki

Ftochopoulos was born in Karpasia in 1950. At an early age, he moved with his parents to London and later settled in Thessaloniki, where he engaged in political and civic activities, Cyprus Mail reports.

In a social media post, the To Erma bookstore-restaurant called Ftochopoulos not only a friend but also its foundation. The establishment recalled his newspapers and magazines, including the Enosis newspaper, the old Aegeon tavern, publishing projects, performances and books.

To Erma also recalled meetings with Ftochopoulos filled with laughter, jokes and satire. The establishment noted that he told children fairy tales.
