Ani Lorak's concerts in Russia have been canceled due to a political scandal
Singer Ani Lorak, who lives and continues her career in Russia, has found herself at the center of a new political scandal. Several of her concerts in the Russian Far East were canceled following accusations that she had performed for Ukrainian military personnel.
This concerns the artist’s planned performances in Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, which ultimately did not receive the necessary approvals from local authorities.
“The holding of these concerts was not approved by local authorities and regional administrations. For our part, we did everything necessary to organize and hold the events; however, despite our repeated requests, approval was not granted,” the organizers noted.
Documents released by the singer’s team indicate that the negative reaction from the public and local officials was linked to disputes surrounding the artist’s stance on the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“Since the announcement of this singer’s performance, negative discussions about the event have unfolded in the media, along with calls to cancel the singer’s concerts. These statements were prompted by the singer’s ambiguous stance on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, as well as her participation in concerts for Ukrainian soldiers and the wounded…,” one of the documents states.
Ani Lorak herself also confirmed the cancellation of the performances and addressed her fans via social media.
“I was looking forward to meeting you in Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Khabarovsk, but, unfortunately, for reasons beyond my control, the ‘Aura’ concerts in these cities will not take place,” the singer wrote.
Recently, there have been repeated discussions surrounding the artist due to her activities in Russia and her statements regarding the reasons for her move to the Russian Federation. Earlier, Lorak stated that it was the Russian market that gave her the opportunity to continue her professional development after leaving Ukraine.
The agency responsible for organizing the singer’s tour announced the cancellation of the concerts.
Earlier, Ivo Bobul publicly defended Taisiya Povaliy and Ani Lorak, who had moved to Russia, and later supported her position. The singer believes that conditions were created in Ukraine that made it impossible for them to continue their careers.
After People’s Artist of Ukraine Ivo Bobul justified his fellow countrywoman Ani Lorak’s move to Russia by claiming that she was allegedly prevented from working in Ukraine, the singer herself—who is accused in Ukraine of betraying her homeland—also echoed this version of events.
