Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have begun work on a sequel to the Christmas hit *How the Grinch Stole Christmas*. The creators of the original film are set to be involved in the new project, along with Jim Carrey, who played the lead role in the 2000 film.

The actor is currently in talks about reprising his role as the Grinch. The screenplay for the upcoming film is being written by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, and David Mandel, known for their work on popular American TV series.

The original film became one of the most successful Christmas projects in cinema history. With a budget of $123 million, the film grossed over $345 million at the global box office and won an Oscar for Best Makeup.

Although more than 25 years have passed since its premiere, the film remains one of the most popular Christmas hits.
