Angelina Jolie shared how her children helped her return to the movies after her divorce

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie admitted that it was her children’s support that helped her recover after her breakup with ex-husband Brad Pitt and return to acting after a long hiatus. 

The actress explained that she had previously stepped away from acting to focus on directing, but later realized she needed short-term acting projects that would allow her to spend more time at home or travel with her family. 

According to Jolie, her fighting spirit—which she had temporarily lost during a difficult period in her life—is finally returning thanks to the support of her now-adult children.

The actress noted that almost all of her children are now 18 years old, know her very well, and want their mother to return to the public eye, travel the world, and pursue her passion. Her children are actively encouraging the star to reconnect with those aspects of her personality that she previously didn’t feel free enough to express. This family solidarity is also reflected on a personal level, as her children are increasingly showing emotional closeness specifically with their mother.

In particular, the couple’s daughter, Zahara—who recently received her bachelor’s degree in psychology—was introduced at the official graduation ceremony exclusively by her mother’s last name. Previously, their eldest son, Maddox, also renounced his father’s last name and officially began using the surname Jolie in February 2024. In total, the former couple is raising six children: 24-year-old Maddox, 22-year-old Pax, 21-year-old Zahara, 19-year-old Shiloh, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
