Debt in the Ukrainian energy market has reached approximately 200 billion hryvnia

Total debt in the Ukrainian electricity market amounts to approximately 200 billion hryvnia.

This was stated by Ivan Plachkov, former Minister of Energy of Ukraine and President of the All-Ukrainian Energy Assembly.

According to him, a significant portion of the problems has accumulated due to years of ad-hoc decisions and imperfect market regulation.

“How much debt is there in the electricity market? About 200 billion… I think somewhere around 150 billion in net debt,” Plachkov said.

He noted that one of the factors contributing to the accumulation of debt was financial imbalances linked to the mechanism for imposing public service obligations (PSOs), as well as decisions made without proper economic justification.

Gas imports to Ukraine fell 28-fold in April.

Ukrainewill increase gas imports from Poland, according to the regulator.
