Kyiv and Cherkasy Regions Lead in the Installation of Gas-Fired Power Generation — Shmyhal
As of mid-June, more than 1.8 GW of distributed gas-fired generation had been commissioned in Ukraine. The largest amounts of new capacity were recorded in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions.
This was announced by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the total capacity of the generating facilities put into operation has already reached 1,806.3 MW. Kyiv Oblast took the lead with 212.3 MW, while Cherkasy Oblast ranked second with 124.6 MW.
In just the last three and a half months, Ukraine has commissioned an additional 338.7 MW of new generating capacity. Work was most active in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and the Zhytomyr region.
Construction is also underway on another 249 facilities with a total capacity of 522.8 MW. Most of them are scheduled to be commissioned before the start of the heating season—in September–November.
