Russian strikes have caused new power outages in four regions of Ukraine
“The enemy continues to attack the Ukrainian power grid. As a result of drone attacks and artillery strikes in frontline regions, as of this morning, consumers in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions are without power. Wherever security conditions currently permit, emergency repair work has already begun,” according to a statement from NPC Ukrenergo.
In addition, due to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, 40 settlements in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions have been completely or partially left without power. Repair crews from regional power companies are already restoring the damaged power lines.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, electricity consumption levels are consistent with those of the previous day.
“Today, peak electricity consumption should be shifted to the period when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently—from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,” Ukrenergo notes.
On June 8, power outages were reported in the Chernihiv region as a result of yet another Russian attack. More than 48,000 customers were left without power. The attack led to widespread power outages in the region. The relevant services are working to restore power to affected customers.
As a result of yet another targeted strike by Russian occupation forces on critical infrastructure in the Chernihiv region on May 31, serious problems with the power supply arose. The enemy attack on a local energy facility led to an immediate power outage affecting approximately 40,000 residential and industrial customers in the city of Chernihiv itself.
