Romania has begun importing electricity from Ukraine due to a shortage of power generation
The Romanian company Nuclearelectrica has begun purchasing electricity from Ukraine with the assistance of the Moldovan company Energocom.
The deliveries are intended to offset the electricity shortage caused by the shutdown of the first power unit at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant and to mitigate the impact on the country’s energy market.
Nuclearelectrica noted that its cooperation with Energocom is based on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2023 and represents a continuation of their partnership in the field of energy security.
The company emphasized that such mutual assistance demonstrates the importance of solidarity among countries in the region.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has begun blasting operations on the Danube to divert part of the water flow to ensure the water supply to the nuclear power plant in Cernavodă. The operation is scheduled to continue on Monday, according to European Truth, citing Digi 24.
The Romanian government has convened an emergency meeting due to a threat to the safe operation of the Cernavodă nuclear power plant, which arose amid extreme heat and a critical drop in water levels in the Danube.
