Ukraine is short 650 million euros to prepare its energy sector for winter

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that Ukraine’s energy sector has an unmet need of approximately 650 million euros ahead of the heating season.

According to him, the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund has already accumulated more than 2 billion euros, but this is not enough to fully prepare for winter.

“We cannot slow down the pace of mobilizing aid. This winter will objectively be difficult,” Koretsky emphasized.

The prime minister also noted that Ukraine must not only restore its destroyed energy infrastructure but also build modern distributed generation systems, which are more efficient and help reduce carbon emissions.

Since the end of winter, protective structures have been erected in Ukraine for more than 130 energy infrastructure facilities, including power substations, water utility facilities, district heating plants, and boiler rooms in frontline regions.

As a reminder, in the Chernihiv region, approximately 7,000 people were left without power due to a Russian attack.
