Ukrenergo has reported on the consequences of a massive attack on the power grid
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have carried out a massive missile and drone attack on critical infrastructure, particularly in the energy sector. According to Ukrenergo, power outages have been reported in a number of regions.
“As a result, as of this morning, there are power outages affecting consumers in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Volyn, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions, as well as in the city of Kyiv,” the statement reads.
The company added: “Emergency restoration work in each of the regions began immediately after the security situation allowed it. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore power to all customers as quickly as possible.”
As a reminder, on the night of May 14, an air raid alert lasted nearly eight hours in Kyiv. In the Kyiv region, seven people were injured in a Russian attack, including a three-year-old child. In Kyiv, more than 30 people have been wounded following the massive shelling.
“Over 1,560 drones in a single day is not the way to end the war,” Zelenskyy said.
