Electricity consumption has risen in Ukraine: power outages are occurring

As of the morning of May 13, electricity consumption in Ukraine is on the rise, while consumers in six regions remain without power due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Power outages have been reported in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

This information comes from Ukrenergo.

Emergency repair work has already begun wherever safety conditions permit.

According to the company, electricity consumption has increased. Today, May 13, as of 9:30 a.m., consumption was 6.1% higher than at the same time the previous day—Tuesday.

The reason for the changes is cloudy weather across almost the entire territory of Ukraine. This leads to low efficiency of residential solar power plants and a corresponding increase in energy consumption from the main grid,” energy officials explain.

According to them, given the weather conditions, there is a need for energy conservation throughout the day today. They urge people to limit the use of high-power electrical appliances as much as possible from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

As a reminder, Russian attacks have caused power outages in several regions of Ukraine.

The day before, power outages occurred in several regions of Ukraine as a result of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure facilities. Consumers in the Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions remain temporarily without power.

In Kherson, a man riding a bicycle was killed by a Russian drone strike. His identity is currently being established, and an investigation is underway.
