China regains lead in number of dollar billionaires
China has reclaimed its position as the country with the highest number of billionaires whose wealth exceeds $1 billion. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2026 report, China hosts 1,110 billionaires, surpassing the United States, which ranks second with 1,000 billionaires.
India ranks third with 308 ultra-rich individuals, followed by Germany (171), the United Kingdom (150), and Switzerland (114). Russia holds seventh place with 105 billionaires. Globally, the number of billionaires has exceeded 4,000 for the first time, setting a new record. The average age of billionaires is 65 years.
New York remains the leading city with 146 billionaires. Shenzhen climbed to second place with 132 billionaires, followed by Shanghai (120), Beijing (107), and London (102). This highlights the growing significance of Chinese cities in the global economy.
