The National Bank sold more than a billion dollars over the course of a week
During the week of June 8–12, the National Bank of Ukraine sold $1,154.9 million on the interbank foreign exchange market.
At the same time, the regulator traditionally refrained from buying foreign currency.
The central bank’s net currency sales figures demonstrate a sharp increase in market demand. The volume of dollars sold during the period was $388.41 million higher than the previous week.
Throughout this time, the financial institution carried out only selling interventions to smooth out exchange rate fluctuations.
The trend of the country’s main financial institution making no currency purchases at all has remained unchanged for quite some time.
This is evidenced by official statistics released by the NBU’s press service.
