New evidence confirms vaping harms: increased risk of serious infections and chronic lung disease
Using electronic cigarettes significantly raises the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and can shorten life expectancy to about 10 years after diagnosis. This is crucial as COPD can lead to organ failure and severely impact smokers’ health.
Data show that e-cigarette users are approximately 50% more likely to develop COPD than non-smokers. Additionally, regular vaping weakens lung immune defense, worsens gum and dental health, and causes inflammation in the respiratory tract.
These findings highlight the need for caution regarding e-cigarettes and may prompt stricter regulation of their sale and use in society.
