Seventh dengue case recorded in Rawalpindi since the start of the season
In Rawalpindi, Pakistan, the seventh dengue case since the start of the current season has been registered. The patient from the Dhama Syedan area was taken to Holy Family Hospital, where he was transferred to the dengue ward.
Earlier, on September 9, a patient from the Asghar Mall Scheme area was reported. According to Dawn, two dengue patients were registered in September, four in July, and one more in March.
Comparison with last year
District preventive medical officer Dr. Jawad Zahid said that the spread of the dengue virus in the city is under control. According to him, 582 dengue patients were recorded in Rawalpindi last year, while this year their number stands at seven.

An anti-dengue campaign has been launched in the city, with 1,400 teams formed for indoor and outdoor monitoring. The largest number of mosquito larvae was found on Misrial Road, in Afshan Colony and Allama Iqbal Colony in Rawalpindi Cantonment. A significant number of larvae was also recorded in Nasirabad, Morgah, Dhama Syedan, Pirwadhai, Dhamyal, Hazara Colony, Pindora, Dhoke Mangtal, Dhoke Ratta and Chak Jalal Din.
Measures against mosquito breeding
Since the start of the season, larvae have been found at more than 145,572 locations in residential buildings and open areas. All detected larvae were destroyed. For violations of standard anti-dengue procedures, 2,543 FIRs were registered, 652 buildings were sealed, and 2,119 fine notices were issued. The total amount of fines imposed was 2.568 million Pakistani rupees.
Jawad Zahid said that the number of field staff had been increased as part of the campaign. He urged residents to keep their homes and rooftops clean and prevent the accumulation of standing water where dengue-carrying mosquitoes can breed.
