Nike is launching a collaboration with Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy's brand
The American sports brand Nike has launched a collaboration with the skateboarding brand "Rassvet," co-founded by Russian designer and Putin supporter Gosha Rubchinskiy.
Despite the fact that in June 2022 the company officially announced its complete withdrawal from the Russian market, this new release sets a serious precedent for the Western giant’s collaboration with a representative of the aggressor country’s industry.
The “Rassvet” brand was founded in 2016 by Rubchinsky together with skateboarder Tolya Titaev.
Rubchinsky has repeatedly been linked to the promotion of Soviet aesthetics and militarism themes in his design work.
The brand’s products are geared toward youth street culture and have long been supported by international distributors.
The Russian fashion designer is known for his outspoken statements in support of the Kremlin regime. In 2014, Gosha Rubchinskiy openly supported Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea.
In addition to his political stance, his reputation has been tarnished by high-profile criminal charges. In 2018, he was accused of extorting pornographic photos from a 16-year-old fan.
