Nuvei plans to acquire the Payoneer payment platform for $2.7 billion

Nuvei plans to acquire the Payoneer payment platform for $2.7 billion

The Canadian fintech company Nuvei is in advanced talks to acquire the well-known payment platform Payoneer for $2.7 billion.

According to the authoritative news agency Reuters, the parties may sign the agreement in the coming days.

The anticipated merger will combine Nuvei’s robust merchant acquiring and payment processing capabilities with Payoneer’s extensive global network of payments and cross-border transfers.

This strategic decision is of immense importance to both players in the financial sector.

Thanks to this integration, Nuvei will gain significantly deeper access to the cross-border payments market and substantially strengthen its direct presence in emerging markets.

The new partnership will give Nuvei direct access to Payoneer’s unique, large-scale marketplace ecosystem. This will enable the fintech giant to interact with global platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and eBay, as well as with millions of global merchants.

It is worth noting that Payoneer has spent many years building a reliable payment infrastructure for freelancers, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), exporters, and marketplace sellers, particularly in emerging markets.

Experts emphasize that this potential deal is not only about scaling operations but also about strategic market positioning. Traditional payment processing is becoming an increasingly competitive field.

At the same time, cross-border payments and fund transfers in the B2B sector remain among the fastest-growing segments of financial services worldwide.

This is reported by Reuters.
